Freedom

Wed Jun 24, 2009, 9:25 AM
I went to Williamsburg, Virginia for about a week so my family and I could tour the "Historic Triangle" (Yorktown, Williamsburg, and Jamestown), but that isn't what I'm here to talk to you about...

Well the idea, per se, is relevant.

Independence. Democracy. I've overlooked it for so long, but last week I was reminded of freedom's meaning. My ancestors fought for my right to be here, talking freely today, but right now there's a similar struggle occurring. Iranians are dying. But their spirit is so incredible... I'm really speechless. I hope this time the overthrow of the government --if it happens-- will be BETTER for the people.

So I dedicate my thoughts and prayers to those brave souls over in Iran right now. God bless you all, and may your dead rest in peace.

:faint: My friend from Ontario is so amazing. He showed me a piece of Heaven, and now I am showing you.

Rock on my fellow classic rockers! :headbang:

As for my beautiful parakeets, they're with me constantly. ;) We're still working on finger-perch training, but we're getting there... gradually. Once they're more comfortable with me, I'll take pictures of them.

:peace:,

P.S.- Woooa, 5k pageviews! Thank you thank you thank you! :XD: I'm going to start attending art classes with my step-grandmother tomorrow. So maybe I can do something in that class. :D We'll see, haha.

Birds of a Feather

Mon May 11, 2009, 9:35 AM
On Saturday, I bought two blue parakeets from Petsmart. Their names are Thalia and Apollo (though we're not sure if Apollo is indeed a boy...). I've never had a bird as a pet before, so this is really a surreal experience. I've made toys for them and am constantly playing Tchaikovsky and Chopin, hehe. So expect to see these beautiful birds in some photos soon.

While I've done my homework on the birds, I'd still like some firsthand advice. If you've ever had a bird --or more specifically, a parakeet-- as a pet, please leave any suggestions. :)

Thanks!

In Memory of Frank Melton

First off --and this is totally off-topic-- I'm really sorry about how horrible the world is that people have lost all respect for others, not to mention trust. I myself am a victim of this distrusting disease, and although it is not my fault about what has happened in my past, I cannot help but be weary of everyone around me. And I know that this is an axiom for most people in this world. You can try to be optimistic, but once something bad happens to you or someone you love or know or have just heard of in the news... Well, you begin to lose trust and respect as well. It's saddening, this erosion of virtue...

But on a more important note, Jackson's mayor, Frank Melton, died a little after midnight after allegedly suffering a heart attack. The man himself was the start of controversies, and I do not feel it necessary to go into detail of these debates. However, I shall say that the man had the most honorable of intentions. He truly cared for children and that they be given an innocent, carefree, and whimsical childhood. If anyone has ever been to downtown Jackson...well, that person would know that many children live very difficult lives. Melton felt that if Jackson could be purified, and cleansed of its vile habits, that the children would have a chance again. As I said, the man had wonderful intentions, but I am not sure if he went about things the right way. At any rate, that does not matter anymore. What does matter is Melton's virtuous character. God bless him and his family, and may he always be remembered as a martyr for the children.
